A fairly nondescript skyscraper \/ office building caught my eye, mainly because there was a delegation of suit-wearing business folk outside looking at the building inquisitively. A quick search and I found out it&#8217;s the brand-new Shimizu headquarters. Apparently the most <a href=\"http:\/\/inhabitat.com\/shimizu-corporations-new-tokyo-headquarters-is-the-worlds-least-co2-emitting-building\/\">eco-friendly office<\/a> building in the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/benbansal.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/shimizu1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-212 alignnone\" title=\"shimizu1\" src=\"https:\/\/benbansal.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/shimizu1-580x458.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"458\" srcset=\"https:\/\/benbansal.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/shimizu1-580x458.jpg 580w, https:\/\/benbansal.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/shimizu1.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><!--more--><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shimz.co.jp\/english\/index.html\">Shimizu<\/a> is a big architecture \/ engineering firm that has come up with mind-boggling projects such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shimizu_Mega-City_Pyramid\">Shimizu Mega-City Pyramid<\/a>. Their Kyobashi building is perhaps less pompous, but has other selling points. In an age of energy conservation (especially following last year&#8217;s tsunami and related nuclear catastrophe), the company thinks that its own headquarter can be somewhat of a showcase project, demonstrating the scope for energy savings in modern construction.
