Old colonial facade in downtown Rangoon.<\/p>\n The property boom is\u00a0ubiquitous: here, the country’s first Novotel is being built. Other Accor properties are surely following suit, as are many other international hotel chains<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Recent reforms have resulted in a flourishing of new daily newspapers. While restrictions remain<\/a>\u00a0on what can and cannot be said, the censorship board no longer exists.<\/p>\n Rangoon’s old colonial architecture is stunning. Some of it is being renovated while other buildings are left to decay. I’ll try to get a few better shots done soon and devote a separate and more systematic post to that.
