Being a stay-at-home dad to look after our second child is probably the best job I could have at the moment. No need to check emails, no need to stay on top of the news, or come up with analyses to make sense of the world.
My muscle memory makes sure I do stay on top of the news though. With my attention span limited given that I am dealing with a baby at home, I find myself scrolling way too much. Gone are the plans to undergo a digital detox.
I went on paternity leave in November last year. The world has turned upside down since. I now have Wednesdays to myself and aim to write a little more on the blog. To stay positive, retain some agency in these tumultuous times. Writing is structured thinking, and some structure will do me good.
I will cover the German elections, in which I voted for Die Linke, the socialist party, for the first time at the national level. I will write just a few words on Trump and his entourage of sycophants.
I also want to catch up with some travelogue writing, as we have been to India, Dubai, Japan and New Zealand since the baby was born in June last year.
Lastly, I want to jot down some reading notes from the books I have recently consumed. They’re not many unfortunately, but inspiring nonetheless.
The aim is to reboot some of the serendipity that has come out of blogging in the past.
